This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to update you about the ongoing federal government shutdown.

I have been visiting residents across our district to hear your concerns and tour places being negatively impacted by the shutdown. Our residents are especially worried about losing their health care or paying higher premiums because of this shutdown.

Recently, I went to the Paterson Community Health Center. For decades, the health center has long been a vital part of our community. It offers across-the-board medical and dental care to some of our most in-need residents.

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou inviting you to my office’s annual Service Day Academy Information Session for all members of our community this weekend. You can RSVP here.

This Saturday my congressional team will be hosting an event welcoming admissions officers from our nation’s military academies to discuss how to apply, talk about their schools, and answer any questions.

If you have a child, family member, or friend interested in one day attending these schools, this is your chance to learn more about West Point, Annapolis, and America’s other public military schools.

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about the current federal government shutdown.

Our country remains rightfully upset by what is happening in Washington. Americans continue to be hammered by a high cost of living.

Because so many Americans will be hurt, I will not accept any pay during a government shutdown and I have instructed the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives not to give me any pay if a shutdown occurs.

The cost of living is far too high, especially for health care. Ahead of the September 30 government funding deadline, Democrats want to avert a shutdown and meet with President Trump so we can discuss how to keep the federal government open while driving down health care costs.

Just last week I called on Congressional leaders of both parties to include policies to lower health care costs in any government funding bill. New Jerseyans can’t afford for the price of health care to spike now when so many Americans already dealing with increased costs from the ongoing tariff wars.

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about our recent ceremony honoring America’s fallen heroes.

This weekend I participated in the opening ceremony for the Veterans and Athletes United Fallen Heroes Memorial. The Memorial is a traveling tribute honoring service members who gave their lives in the War on Terrorism and honoring Gold Star families. It has visited over 200 locations across America.

Just this month, we marked 24 years since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. We lost 750 people from our state. With each year that passes, it never gets easier.

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about my recent visit to Lodi.

I came to Lodi in our district to tour a family-owned manufacturing business, MK Metalcraft. The company specializes in spring washers, folded metal gaskets, engine gaskets and locks, shallow drawn parts, cup washers, custom metal stampings, and assemblies.

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about the 24th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

With each year that passes, this day never gets easier. September 11, 2001 remains one of the darkest days in American history.

Approximately 750 victims we lost that day were New Jerseyeans. They were our fathers and sisters, neighbors and friends. In the cities and towns that comprise our district, we lost people from 20 of our communities. We will never, ever forget them.

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you with the latest on my work to support water infrastructure in our district.

Just weeks ago, over 200,000 residents in our district lost access to water after a 140-year-old pipe ruptured. While water has been restored and boiling advisories are over, the impact was catastrophic for people, families, and small businesses who are all still recovering and need to be made whole.
