Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about back-to-school season.

I know this is an exciting time of year for many of our families across New Jersey. But it can also be expensive.

This year, prices on everything from highlighters to binders have gone up, driven by misguided tariffs. Tariffs are a tax on the goods Americans buy.

This Back-to-School Season, thanks to these tariff policies:

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about our recent marking of Ukraine Independence Day.

We are blessed to live in one of the most diverse districts in all America. A key part of that is we boast one of the largest Ukrainian communities in our nation. I was honored to stand with so many proud members of that community in Clifton last week.

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about my recent visit to North Haledon.

I came to North Haledon at the invitation of my friend Mayor George to attend the borough council meeting and discuss the ongoing water crisis. During the meeting, I heard from North Haledon residents sharing their stories about the water crisis. Many were upset and angry – and I share that anger.

Dear friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about my recent visit to Secaucus.

I went to Secaucus this week to celebrate the grand opening of the new community center. So many Secaucus residents came out to see the facility on what was a great night for our community.

As you may know, the move to build a new community center came after it was discovered that oil tanks under the old center had been leaking for some time, compromising the building’s foundation.

Dear friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to let you know about a new nearly $1 million federal grant our congressional office has secured for Kearny.

This new funding will be used by Kearny to remove and replace lead pipes in the town. Every year for nearly the entire next decade, Kearny is replacing about 550 lead pipe water services. The pipes that will be replaced thanks to this grant include those covering Brighton Avenue, Rose Street, Park Avenue, and Park Place.

Dear friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about my recent visit to Edgewater and our luncheon with Edgewater senior citizens.

As a new member of Congress, meeting with our neighbors is so important to me. After being invited by my friend Mayor McPartland, we had a great discussion with Councilwoman Lawlor at the Edgewater Senior Center about what I am working on in Congress, federal issues of importance to seniors, and the social services our office provides.

Dear friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about our recent celebration of India’s Independence Day.

Last week, I joined community leaders in Clifton to mark this important day and to celebrate the vital contributions of Indian Americans. Just 78 years ago, the people of India secured their sovereignty and right to self determination. Indians around the world and here in America remain guided by Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence.

Dear friend:

In the aftermath of the bill’s passage, the Committee for a Responsible Budget is forecasting substantial Social Security cuts sooner than anyone expected – all thanks to the Big Ugly Budget law and its impacts on the Social Security Trust Fund.

Dear Friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about supporting our nation’s veterans.

Recently, I had an opportunity to visit and tour our Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Paterson. I met with doctors, nurses, and patients. I wanted to visit the facility to thank the staff for their vital work and ask what they needed from Congress.
