Dear Friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about a somber anniversary. A few days ago marked three years since the Republican-appointed majority of the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade.

Dear Friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about veterans care. This week in Congress we debated the annual appropriations bill for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Because it would be harmful, I voted no and wanted to explain why.

The measure we voted on includes funding for America’s veterans. Unfortunately, the Republican-sponsored bill would privatize medical care for veterans by transferring billions of dollars to private hospitals and clinics.

Dear Friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you with an update on an issue of great importance to our community: the possible restoration of the State and Local Tax Deduction, or SALT.

As you probably know, the state and local deduction was capped at just $10,000 by the tax law enacted by congressional Republicans and signed into law by President Trump in 2017. The state and local deduction has been used by New Jersey’s middle class families for generations.

Dear Friend:

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about a new serious threat to America's national lands. On May 27, the Trump Justice Department issued a legal opinion claiming that the President is allowed to abolish any of America’s national monuments. This is an outrage.

Dear Friend,

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about the use of the U.S. military in California and on the streets of our nation’s capital. I want to discuss why I think both are dangerous developments for America.

This weekend, the government will stage a large-scale military parade including tanks through the streets of Washington, D.C. The parade is officially marking the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. It is also being held on Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Dear Friend:

Recently, I led my colleagues in Congress seeking money for a critical cause: fighting cancer among firefighters. I wanted to highlight this important issue.

Our firefighters are always there, always standing on the frontlines.

During the pandemic, they kept our communities safe even as 180 firefighters fell to the virus. And when Hurricane Ida unleashed catastrophic flooding in our communities, our fire heroes donned scuba gear and rescued hundreds of our neighbors.

Dear Friend:

A few days ago, I joined local and state leaders marking the launch of an exciting new program: Passaic County MOVE. The program is designed to help seniors, neighbors with disabilities, and other community members without cars access affordable, convenient rides to get around.

Every day, a senior each of us knows needs to get to the doctor, the pharmacist, or the supermarket. As we age, what was a simple trip down the block can be difficult and highly stressful.
