Dear Friend:
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou, and I am writing to share a meaningful moment that recently took place as we honored the service and sacrifice of a hometown hero.
My office recently helped secure a new grave marker for Private First Class James G. Davidson, a Korean War soldier whose extraordinary bravery earned him the Silver Star, one of our nation's highest military honors, as well as the Purple Heart.
Dear Friend:
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to update you about recent developments at the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark.
Over the past several weeks, I have continued my oversight of the facility as a member of the House Homeland Security Committee. I conducted an inspection of Delaney Hall, spoke directly with detainees, pressed officials for answers, and reviewed reports about ongoing conditions inside the facility.
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou. I want to write to you about fast-rising gas prices. In our state New Jersey, gas prices have jumped almost70 cents a gallon in just three weeks.
Dear Friend,
Did you know that some 17-year-olds can vote in New Jersey’s upcoming primary election on Tuesday, June 2nd?
Under a state law enacted in 2024, a 17-year-old young man or woman may vote in a primary election if they turn 18 on or before the general election this November 3rd. That means many high school seniors, as well as some juniors, are eligible to take part in the spring 2026 primary process for the very first time in their lives.
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou and I want to share an important update with you about one of our residents.
Leqaa Kordia has been released from ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detention after more than a year in custody. This is a moment of tremendous relief for Leqaa, for her family, and for so many members of our community who have been following her case closely.
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou. This morning, I was in East Rutherford to announce that my office has secured $350,000 in federal funding to strengthen public safety in the borough as our community prepares to host the FIFA World Cup.
This funding will help the borough modernize its emergency communications system by purchasing new computer and radio consoles, installing updated monitors, and converting space into a dedicated server room to improve coordination among first responders.
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou. I was proud to visit Cliffside Park this morning to announce $1,092,000 in federal funding to strengthen the town’s water infrastructure.
Working with Mayor Thomas Calabrese, the Borough Council, and local officials, my office secured these funds to help replace broken sanitary pipes and improve the borough’s stormwater system.
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about my vote this week to halt the war with Iran.
The Defense Secretary says our commitment to our objectives grows as our advantages grow. The Secretary of State says this isn’t even a war. And President Trump says he’ll help choose the next leader of Iran. What’s the plan? What are our goals?
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about the start of America’s war with Iran.
This past weekend, the American military commenced attacks against the Iranian regime. Hostilities are continuing and are engulfing much for the region.
So far, at least six American servicemembers have been killed. I am hoping and praying for our brave military personnel, the people of Iran and all innocent people impacted by this violent conflict.
Dear Friend,
This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you on a somber anniversary. Today marks four years since Russia launched its unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine.
Four years of war. Four years of destruction. Four years of Ukrainians fighting for their independence, their democracy, and their survival.
Russia started this war. Russia alone is responsible for the violence and suffering that have followed.
