This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you about the 24th anniversary of September 11, 2001. 

With each year that passes, this day never gets easier. September 11, 2001 remains one of the darkest days in American history. 

Approximately 750 victims we lost that day were New Jerseyeans. They were our fathers and sisters, neighbors and friends. In the cities and towns that comprise our district, we lost people from 20 of our communities. We will never, ever forget them.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ–09) today used a hearing of the House Water Resources Subcommittee to push leaders from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers tasked with flood management to direct greater federal resources to northern New Jersey communities at risk of flooding and specifically to expedite action on a project for the Lower Saddle River which has plodded along for 40 years.

This is Congresswoman Nellie Pou writing to you with the latest on my work to support water infrastructure in our district. 

Just weeks ago, over 200,000 residents in our district lost access to water after a 140-year-old pipe ruptured. While water has been restored and boiling advisories are over, the impact was catastrophic for people, families, and small businesses who are all still recovering and need to be made whole.

WASHINGTON, DC – The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure today approved the Water Crisis Prevention Act, legislation offered by Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) in response to the recent water emergency in Passaic County. The bill was included in broader legislation to reauthorize the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The legislation now heads to the House floor.
