As you probably know, the state and local deduction was capped at just $10,000 by the tax law enacted by congressional Republicans and signed into law by President Trump in 2017. The state and local deduction has been used by New Jersey’s middle class families for generations.

This weekend, the government will stage a large-scale military parade including tanks through the streets of Washington, D.C. The parade is officially marking the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. It is also being held on Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Recently, I led my colleagues in Congress seeking money for a critical cause: fighting cancer among firefighters. I wanted to highlight this important issue.

Our firefighters are always there, always standing on the frontlines.  

During the pandemic, they kept our communities safe even as 180 firefighters fell to the virus. And when Hurricane Ida unleashed catastrophic flooding in our communities, our fire heroes donned scuba gear and rescued hundreds of our neighbors.
