Congresswoman Pou Presses for Flight Safety Changes in FAA Hearing
Questioning focuses on Teterboro Airport, air traffic controller training
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today participated in a hearing of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Aviation on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization, focusing on safety at Teterboro Airport, training for air traffic controllers, and other issues relevant to improving air travel safety in America.
“I’m glad this Committee is continuing to focus on the critical issue of airline safety by ensuring full implementation of the FAA Reauthorization Act,” said Congresswoman Pou. “I represent Teterboro Airport, which is an important business aviation hub. The breakdowns at Philadelphia TRACON have impacted airports across the northeast, including Teterboro. Is the FAA doing enough to manage the failures in the short and the long-term?”
As Vice Ranking Member of Congress’s Aviation Subcommittee, Congresswoman Pou has been aggressive in seeking action to turn Newark Airport around. Recently, she joined members of the New Jersey congressional delegation in calling for an immediate surge of at least $2 billion to address the ongoing situation at Newark Airport.
Last month, Congresswoman Pou led a letter with House Transportation Committee leaders demanding answers from Acting FAA Administrator Chris Rocheleau.
