Congresswoman Pou Blasts Bad Government Funding Package That Will Raise Costs

PATERSON, NJ – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ–09) today criticized the move of several U.S. Senators to back a Republican government funding plan that will skyrocket Americans’ health care costs.

“I came to Washington to lower the high costs that are crushing Americans – it is clear the Senate funding proposal does the opposite,” said Congresswoman Pou. “Last week, Americans voting in New Jersey and across the country sent a resounding message that they are fed up with high costs and the failing Trump economy. Lowering high costs is the top priority of tens of millions of Americans and Congress should listen to them. This funding package in the Senate will only make Americans angrier – and rightly so. I will no to any legislation that will raise the health care costs of tens of thousands of my constituents by an average of nearly $3,000. I will vote no to any so-called government funding package that will not stop Republican price hikes on health care premiums. This is a bad deal.”
