Congresswoman Pou Votes on Cryptocurrency Bills
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today on the House of Representatives voted on three pending bills involving expansion of cryptocurrencies in America: H.R. 3633, Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, S. 1582, the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, and H.R. 1919, Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act, voting in favor of the first two, which establish frameworks for regulating crypto assets, and against the third, which would limit the U.S.’ ability to remain competitive in the digital finance sector.
“The rise of different cryptocurrencies has excited many Americans who have invested in them and explored ways to expand their presence,” said Congresswoman Pou. “I think innovation and entrepreneurship remain the engines of America’s economy and these emerging technologies may be part of that strength. That being said, I believe the United States dollar remains the foundation of American dominance and that we must check cryptocurrencies’ expansion with smart, thoughtful regulations that foster growth while maintaining a watchful eye on stability and fairness. While not perfect, I think the bills passed today preserve that balance.”
