Congresswoman Pou Mourns Tragic Losses from Building Collapse in Dominican Republic

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) expressed her condolences and sorrow following the tragic building collapse at the Jet Set Club in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night, which resulted in severe injuries and loss of life.

“Last night’s building collapse is an unspeakable tragedy that I know has impacted families across our district,” stated Congresswoman Pou. “My heart goes out to all those affected, especially the families who have lost loved ones in this devastating incident. I am holding them in my thoughts during this difficult time. I also want to express my gratitude to the brave first responders who are risking their lives to recover those still trapped under the rubble.”

Rep. Pou emphasized the strong ties between New Jersey’s Ninth District and the Dominican Republic, noting that the district is home to a large and growing Dominican-American community.
